• 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot Features Three Spartans, Former Coach
  Three former Michigan State All-Americans - wide receiver Kirk Gibson, linebacker Percy Snow and running back Lorenzo White - along with former Spartan head coach Darryl Rogers are featured on the National Football Foundation's 2012 (Football Bowl Subdivision) ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. • Six Spartans Audition At 2012 NFL Scouting Combine
  Four Michigan State seniors - quarterback Kirk Cousins, wide receiver B.J. Cunningham, wide receiver Keshawn Martin and safety Trenton Robinson - along with juniors (defensive tackle) Jerel Worthy and (running back) Edwin Baker have accepted invitations to participate in the NFL's 2012 Scouting Combine, scheduled for Feb. 22-28 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The six participants are the most since the Spartans sent seven players to the NFL Scouting Combine in 2000.
• Former All-American Allen Brenner Passes Away At Age 64
  Former Michigan State All-American Allen Brenner, one of college football's most talented two-way players in the late 1960s, died Monday, Feb. 13 in Clinton, N.C., following an extended illness. He was 64. As a senior in 1968, Brenner earned First-Team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA).
• Barksdale Added To 2012 Spartan Football Roster
  Tres Barksdale, a 6-foot-2, 183-pound wide receiver from Solon (Ohio) High School, has been added to the 2012 Michigan State football roster as a preferred walk-on, according to an announcement made Tuesday, Feb. 7 by Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio. A three-year starter, Barksdale had 90 career receptions for 1,372 yards (15.2 avg.) and 14 touchdowns.
• Greg Jones and Devin Thomas: Super Bowl Champions
  Two former Michigan State Spartans - Greg Jones and Devin Thomas - helped the New York Giants win Super Bowl XLVI over the New England Patriots, 21-17, Sunday night in Indianapolis. Jones and Thomas both played on special teams in the game as the Giants won their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history.

  Three former Michigan State Spartans - New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer and New York Giants linebacker Greg Jones and wide receiver Devin Thomas - were on hand for Super Bowl Media Day Tuesday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Hoyer, Jones and Thomas are preparing for their first Super Bowl on Sunday as the Patriots take on the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.   Michigan State fifth-year senior tight end Brian Linthicum, who set career highs for receptions (31) and receiving yards (364) in 2011, will represent the North in Saturday's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
