• UAB Holds Football Pro Day Monday
  UAB held its Pro Day Monday as several former Blazer football student-athletes worked out in front of the NFL scouts at Legion Field. Thirteen former UAB players and a few from other area schools spent nearly three hours running through drills as they sought to impress the scouts in attendance.

  The UAB football team has picked up another football signee as junior college cornerback D'Andre Green has signed with the Blazers.Green is a 180-pound product of Baltimore, Md. who earned all-conference honors in 2011 at Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif.

• Ty Long Named To Freshman All-America Team
  UAB freshman kicker Ty Long has been named a 2011 Freshman All-American by Phil Steele's College Football Preview. Long was tabbed to its third-team Freshman All-America squad, the magazine announced this week.
